Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hardcourt

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his first trophy for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has endured a torrid year, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in especial - resulted in him falling of the top ten and finally splitting with former trainer his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought competitive triumph over challenger Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial title following the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface since March of 2023.

Victory also signifies he has achieved 21 victories at twenty-one various events.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my children together, so to secure a title is really nice," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six championship matches, including in that event earlier this year.

His counter-punching approach and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had led some to doubt if his ability to perform at the top level was finished.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and play aggressively, supported by an improved serve.

Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky opponent, taking 4 of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.

The competitors traded break points in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his first ATP Tour championship, took control to force a decider.

He defended four early-game chances in a tight third set before the champion won the break to that score to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured the win with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
